Everything about this is so true. Despite striving for a slower life, there will always be times that are busier. But that doesn't mean that one can't live slowly. We can always embrace slowness, even if it is only in those little moments. I'm also going through a slightly busier time at the moment than previously and it's been interesting to notice the difference and realise that I can still live a slow life, even if there is more on my plate and I am feeling busier than before.
Yes, so much of slow living is about mindset! And though I find the busy chapters hard, I think they actually help me to better appreciate the calm ones. ❤️
Thank you for sharing this Katie, the timing could not have been more perfect. I really resonated with your experience with how much things can change when you have a little one.
We have just moved from the inner city, where we lived with one car and within walking distance to work/kindergarten/shops, to a regional area, where we now need two cars and have a commute to get to work. I have been struggling a little with whether this move is in alignment with my values, as it will inevitably involve more busy-ness and car time. But it also means that we can live with a smaller mortgage, will have space for a vege garden and chickens, and will allow the little one to grow up surrounded by green space.
I will be taking your advice and trying to embrace this current chapter and new version of slow.
Having a baby changes everything! ❤️ The car thing is the bane of my existence (we had to buy 4 new tyres just this week! 🙄) but for us having a more affordable mortgage and more garden space is 100% worth it. 🌱✨
This is so helpful! I’m in a season where my s schedule feels too full, even though it’s all necessary and good things, so I appreciate your insight into this topic. Living simply doesn’t have to mean unplugging from everything all the time!
It definitely doesn’t! And in fact, we wouldn’t be able to fully appreciate the calm chapters without experiencing the frazzled ones. You’ve got this! ❤️
Lovely reminders here, and yes, it’s not always easy. I’m having to constantly re-evaluate what living slowly and simply means to me at any given time. Life is a journey of exploration and reflection ✨🌿
A wonderful post, you are so right we have seasons in our lives and it is important to embrace them, as we need to with the seasons in nature. They always feel so unsettling at that transition time don’t they. Like we have lost our way and can’t find the new path.
This was a very helpful read. I’m in a turbulent chapter and your words brought me insight and comfort. Thank-you 💜
I’m so glad this was helpful, Shaunte! I am sending good vibes your way as you navigate this tough chapter. Please be kind to yourself. ❤️

Absolutely. 🥰 Nothing ever stays the same but thank goodness for that! How stagnant and boring life would become if everything was static.

Thank you so much, Wendy! I’ll pop over and read your post now. 🥰
